As experienced Dental Surgeons and with the support of our very competent staff, MINT Dental provides a friendly and efficient service in the Barrow Area. It is our policy to keep abreast of modern developments in treatment and patient care. All of our team undertake regular, continuing education and training to keep their skills and knowledge up to date.

The Dental Practice has fully equipped surgeries. Toilet facilities are also situated on the ground floor. Please let us know, when making your appointment, if you require assistance or wheelchair access.

Dental Care and Treatment
We provide both NHS and PRIVATE dental care for adults and children. We offer a full range of preventive, restorative and cosmetic dentistry. We have a referral system to consultants for orthodontic assessment and more complex oral surgery, such as the removal of impacted wisdom teeth. Some dental treatment needs to be carried out under sedation and this can be arranged by referral to a specialist practice.

Giving you time
We provide new patients with a written report. We take time with all our patients to discuss the proposed treatment, associated risks and alternatives. There is an opportunity to ask questions about your treatment and to discuss other aspects of your care. Estimates of the likely cost of your dental treatment will be provided.

Appointments can be made by telephone or in person at the practice. If you are unable to keep your appointment please give the greatest possible notice. At least twenty four hours notice of cancellation would be appreciated. If you wish to see a certain dentist, please inform a member of staff at reception. Wherever possible we will try and ensure your dental appointment is made with the dentist of your choice. Occasionally this may not be possible. You will be informed of this when you make your appointment. On your first appointment to the practice we will ask you to complete a medical questionnaire, this will include questions about medications you may be taking. Recall appointments are sent out by email.

Emergency Care
Patients requiring Emergency Dental Treatment during surgery hours will be seen as soon as possible. In cases that occur outside the normal surgery hours patients should telephone 01229 821994 and follow the instructions given.

How to Pay
Written details of the NHS charges and the charges for private dental treatment are available at reception. You may be entitled to additional financial assistance from the Government for your NHS treatment – please enquire at reception.
Payment can be made by cash or card. All major credit and debit cards are acceptable. All electronic transactions may be subject to a charge – please ask for details.

Practice Complaints Procedure
We want you to be completely satisfied with your treatment and care. If you are dissatisfied with the treatment which you have received at the Dental Practice, please inform us.
Our Complaints Manager is Dr Julie Forde BDS. She will deal with the complaint according to the Practice’s Complaints policy.

Patient Confidentiality and Data Protection
In order to provide proper and safe dental care we may need to disclose personal information about you to:
Your GP, Hospital or Community Dental Service, other health professionals caring for you, NHS payment authorities, Inland Revenue, The Benefits Agency (when you are claiming exemption from NHS charges), private dental scheme of which you are a member.
Where possible you will be informed of this request for disclosure. If you do not wish personal data that we hold about you to be disclosed please discuss this matter with your dentist. You have the right to object but this may affect our ability to provide you with dental care. Access to your records may be obtained by making a request in writing to the Practice. A fee may apply.
The Dental Practice adheres to written policies of confidentiality, data protection and Freedom of Information. For further information please ask at reception.

Preventing Violence and Aggression
MINT Dental has a policy for preventing violence and aggression at work. Our policy is that violence is unacceptable in any form for whatever reason.
We define violence and aggression as:
• Actual or threatening physical assaults on staff
• Psychological abuse of staff
• Verbal abuse which includes, shouting, swearing and gestures.
This behaviour will not be tolerated and may lead to exclusion from the Practice and /or prosecution.
